Patricia loves: Strawberry Koi

Hey lovely people! I wanted to apologize for not posting as much as I’ve used you to and not replying to all of your lovely comments, but I’m having a really crazy week, month actually now that I think about it. I promise I’ll get back on track as soon as possible!
As for today, I’d like to share with you a brand that’s been growing on me really fast these days. I stumbled upon their lookbook after their name, Strawberry Koi, caught my eye and decided to follow their blog. Their owners, Aya and Thomas Smith describe it as the lovechild between fashion and photography, with a touch of vintage. They’ve got two oh so darling children and take the loveliest photos. I’ll leave you with their SS2013 lookbook for now, since I really need to get my ass back to studying :(

As I was thinking (procrastinating) today, I was trying to understand hate. I honestly don’t. I’m not going to go all white knight and pretend I love everyone and everything because hell I don’t! There are people that drive me mad only by opening their mouth, but that doesn’t mean I’ve ever wished something bad happened to them or hurt them deliberately, it’s such a childish thing to do. When you dislike someone I find the best thing to do is avoid them. At all costs. It’s so much better than filling your head with negative thoughts that at one point start consuming you. Also trying to understand that person or find something that you like about them helps, but it’s a little harder and to be honest it hasn’t worked too many times for me.
Now that I think about it, I don’t see the point of negativity at all, being it aimed at yourself or others. It would be so much easier for everyone if there would be less fake smiles and hatred and rivalry but the world we live in is, sadly, way beyond ridding itself of those.
I’ve got a lot on my mind right now and sadly can’t write up a proper post. Thoughts are mingling in my head, I’m anxious and happy and stressed out and tired all in the same time, it’s safe to say my mind’s a mess. I promise I’ll wrap up something good soon, after I finish with my finals! Are you stressed out by school too? :) Continue reading

Hello, saylor!

I had such a lovely day today, even though I’ve been on the run and still am, barely had 15 minutes to edit the photos and write something up. It’s been so sunny and the air was filled with the scent of blooming chestnuts. A gush of wind and it was raining tiny white and pink petals. Too bad most of them are so tall, I’d love to be able to climb in one and read or just laze around in the shadow, surrounded by all the pretty flowers…
People have been so nice today, too (well, most of them, the amount of dumb comments, obscene yelling and whistles when I ride my bike is infinite). At school when I was in the bathroom, doing my lipstick, a little girl came to wash her hands, then she stopped, stared at me in awe and said “Woow, you are so beautiful”. I melted. Then a cashier told me I look like snow white and I burst out giggling like an idiot. Compliments from strangers are real day brightners.

Patricia Loves: MES DAMES

Truth be told, I’ve always been drawn to the northern European countries. Something about their beauty and their culture seems so mysterious, so luring to me. And of course, there’s the cold weather and seemingly never ending winter and snow that I’d relish in…
Now, some of you know I’m pretty childish when it comes to things I like and when I find something new I either competely hate it or fall in love hopelessly so you can imagine me going “aww” and “woow” and making several other inhuman noises when I first stumbled upon Mes Dames‘ lookbook. The collection is inspired by the Italian art critic Palma Bucarelli, lady who was really influential during the 20th century. It’s so feminine and delicate, yet somehow it has an imposing vibe too. “The collection is inspired by Palma Bucarelli, the beautiful and bright heroine who played a significant role in the 20th century Italian art scene. She was assigned the role of inspector for the renowned Roman Borghese Gallery at the age of twenty-three and the first woman art museum director in Italy. Her impact on artists and contemporary cultural change makers throughout her carrier testifies her vital personality and charisma. Her appearance was always sophisticated and elegant.

Pistachio green, rust red and purple are signature colors of SS13. Penn skirts, high and pinned waists and delicate silk garments are ever so present in this collection. Palmas femininity and elegance is shown through the dressed silhouettes, where tailored V-neck collars combined with wide cut pants give a strict yet elegant look. A multicolored print to combine with the monochrome garments gives a dynamic feeling.
The collection is shot by the photographer Anna Malmberg.” 2745271_orig

Easter Blues

I’ve never been a big fan of religious holidays because we always got invaded by all kind of guests or we had to visit them and yaddla yaddla. I always felt awkward during those social gatherings (still do), but since my parents divorced we usually spend them only with the family so it’s a lot more intimate and there’s no “I have to make a good impression and not embarrass my parents” pressure, which is good. My family already knows what a crazy spazz I am so…
In September I felt like an eternity of never ending torture and boredom begun because of the school start and now I can’t believe there’s only one more month left (June doesn’t count). As the cliche goes, time flies. I’m shaking with excitement as I’m thinking about what this summer has in store. Do you have plans for this summer?

Bang bang, my baby shot me down

My face is melting off as you’re reading this, scratch that, my whole skin is crawling off my bones from the heat. I actually had to move in the bathtub while editing the photos because of the heat. Here’s a little colder, but still.
The shirt I’m wearing is the second one I’ve received from the lovely Choies. As I said in my previous post (about them) they’ve been super friendly and professional, my package came in almost less than 24 hours from receiving my shipping confirmation. The fabric is sheer and soft, perfect for hot summer days even though it’s long sleeved. I can’t wait to combine it with a really colorful skirt, you can play around so much with contrasts with this one :) Do check it out here.

Patricia Loves: Fabled and True

I was thinking of making a series for a while and Ta Dah!~ Here it is, Patricia Loves. I’ve always thought there’s no joy in having something wonderful if you don’t share it with the ones around you and that’s what I’m going to do here. Well having is a little ill expressed, more like knowing about (although I’d kill for the brand that I’m about to show you). From brands to books to movies, I’ll show you everything I take inspiration from, or brightens my day, hoping it’ll do the trick for you as well.

I’ll begin the series with Fabled and True, a wonderful vintage inspired brand from Australia: “Born of a love of vintage and days gone by, each piece is designed and made with love in Brisbane, Australia by little old me. No sweat shops or mass production here! No siree, Bob! Vintage florals and ladylike silhouettes are our signature look and ALL of my printed fabrics and the majority of my lace and lining are either pre loved, re purposed or vintage. That means they have lived another life already, have been (sadly) cast aside, sat in the back of cupboards no longer used and eventually disposed of. I search far and wide for my fabrics and trims looking for discarded pretties that I can give new life to so they can be loved and admired like they once were. This means your F&T is one of a kind or one of only a few, and in a world of sameness that’s pretty sweet, PLUS we’re VERY proud to be known as a local Eco label, doing our little bit for the environment by practising sustainable fashion…and looking darn cute while doing it I might add! YUP!”
I fell in love with their unique dresses the moment I accidentally stumbled upon their facebook page. The lace, the floral patterns, the designs, I can only imagine how amazing it must feel to wear them…
I couldn’t find a lookbook, so I selected my favourite photos from their photoshoots. Enjoy!

A Mediteranean jewel

I’ve been incredibly moody all day and I’ve got no clue why. I’m finally on my second pseudo spring break and that should make me happy, instead it made me pissed-offy and restless and nothing I did made me feel better. I cleaned up my laptop, which ended in me deleting permanently pictures I still damn needed and as you can imagine that made me slump even lower than before. I ended up eating some dark chocolate and cursing at the heat when it started melting all over my hands. This sudden heat wave (obviously) made me thing of summer, last summer to be precise. And so I decided to look at the photos I took in Crete and remembered I’ve been a lazyass slacker all last summer and didn’t blog about any of it.
The hotel we stood in was a total beauty, it wasn’t a big chunky building as most are, it was made out of tiny little houses spread all over the resort. We were (obviously) given rooms in the furthest one, but I didn’t really mind, walking around the resort was exhilarating. I’ll leave you enjoy the Cretan beauty now, for little mean comments keep popping up regarding everything in my hear right now due to my difficult mood and I wouldn’t want to spoil any of it.IMG_2646
