Be my baby

For every kiss you give me, I’ll give you three

I’ve always been a spring kid. The warm winds, the subtle flower scent that lingers in the air, the gentle sun rays what are just warm enough to keep you from being cold. In spring I also get hopelessly romantic, looking for new people, things or places to fall in love with. It’s a fun game. This year’s spring really made us crave for it, but when it came, surprise surprise, it’s summer.

Maybelline’s Colosal Volum’ Express

After reviewing my favourite makeup palettes and eyeliner here, here and here I thought it was time for another one of my favourite essentials to stand in the spotlight. In the beginning I was a little hesitant about buying it, because it was twice the price of my usual mascaras, but I read quite a few good reviews so I thought I’d give it a try.
I usually don’t spend much on mascaras since my lashes are rather short and none really made much of a difference especially since I’m the kind of person who either goes for dramatic makeup or none at all. I also rarely wear only eyeshadow, so my eyes are always contoured by eyeliner or kohl, anyway what I’m trying to point out is that I basically used mascara only to remove the eyeshadow that would stick to my lashes.

I’m SO glad I bought this one, though! It’s the first time I truly see a significant difference. I don’t regret a penny I spent on it, even though it was more or less an impulse buy. Ok, it doesn’t instantly and magically give you 7x volume as the advertisements promise, but it’s as damn close to magical eyelashes I’ve ever been. Although it comes off really easy with eye makeup remover, it doesn’t smudge (I cried with it on, it didn’t budge).
Another thing that usually bothers me at mascaras is their scent, it’s definitely not my cup of tea. I was incredibly surprised to find out this one doesn’t have that unpleasant scent, but a slightly floral, totally cool one!

Here you can see the bristles. They don’t make my lashes clump together, there goes another white ball!

Above you can see my eye without makeup and below with Maybelline’s mascara on. See the difference?

PROS:

-Doesn’t smudge

-Doesn’t smell

-Gets off easily

-Doesn’t clump the lashes together

-It truly gives volume and some extra length

CONS:

- A little pricy

Over all, it gets five hearts! I will definitely buy it again. Thank you for reading and I hope you found this useful!

Saturday’s inspiration: nature!

Now that spring is slowly settling in (although here it snowed yesterday, out of the blue) we have less and less excuses to sit indoors all day long. During winter it was cold, or it was cloudy, or windy, or snowy, the amount of reasons we could push forward for watching a movie or reading a book were countless, while lately the daylight lasts longer, the snow has melted and it’s sunny and warm. Where are your excuses now? I miss the forests, I miss the seaside, the lakes… I miss going out in parks instead of cafes, hearing the birds sing, laying on grass…
The forests are definitely the ones I miss most. First of all, they’re beautiful and mysterious and in summer it’s always a little colder within them so that’s a huge white ball, but what I like most about them is that they’re the only place in which I can be alone and not feel lonely. I’ve always liked sharing time with myself, but sadly I can’t do it much because I always start feeling that annoying hole in my chest. Even while I’m taking a bath, sometimes I have to cut it short and go talk to somebody, anyone, just to make that empty feeling go away. In forests, though, I’m at peace. The only things that scare me are snakes, but otherwise I could spend hours by myself walking, or just reading in the shadow of a tree and not feel that fear.
Forest rant aside, I think everybody takes inspiration from nature and it has always been a part or us (some need to remember that, though). Whether they’re flowers or wolves or the sea, nature plays a big part in fashion too. Patterns, embroideries, flowy textures and fabrics, one way or another, it’s almost always there, don’t you think so?

Makeup review: Sephora’s liquid eyeliner

Hello, hello, dear readers! I’m feeling a lot better than I did yesterday, therefore I’d like to review my favourite eyeliner of all time: Sephora’s liquid eyeliner. DSC_3946 copy
We’ve all been though that never ending search for that perfect makeup item that will work as we’ve always expected. Be it a foundation, a rouge or an eyeliner, the prices always range from cheap to Ineedtosellmysoultothedeviltoaffordthat and sadly, sometimes even the most expensive products don’t work as we hoped they would. I tried dozens of eyeliners, from all kind of brands, of all kind of prices and Sephora’s is the one which pleased me most. Happily it’s affordable too, I can keep my soul for the next item I’ll need oh so ardently.
This bad boy lasts on all day, even without eyeshadow on. I’ve even cried (a lot) wearing it and it didn’t smudge a bit (the poor friends that had to comfort me can testify). Although it lasts like a champion, it’s not a bitch to remove, I’ve never had issues with any kind of makeup remover, be it liquid, cream or soap.

It has a super sharp brush, made of multiple bristles that really allow you to sculpt any kind of shape you’d want. Thick or thin, both really to draw on. Below you have a swatch, this eyeliner’s the blackest I’ve really had too.

The only thing that annoys me is that whenever I buy a new one (it lasts around 4 months) Sephora “updated” it with another brush, so it takes me a while to get used to the new one. Last time I really hated the new brush so I just used the old one and it’s still working perfectly.

Overall, it’s definitely a 5/5. I hope you found this review useful and thanks a lot for reading! :)

Dreamers shall travel: Crete!

Today has been an incredibly sunny day and as I was browsing through my computer I came across pictures from last summer that I had completely forgotten about! Last summer I kind of took a break from blogging because I wanted to focus more on my non-virtual life so all the pictures I took while being in Crete with my dad had gone to waste. Until now! I miss summer dearly and remembering Crete only makes me miss it more. We’ve been there for a week at the end of August and it was super windy, people were saying that that’s the weather they usually have in October. I’m not a big fan of intense heat so it fit me like a glove. And we all know the consequences of windy weather on the shore. The waves, ah the waves were glorious!

The pictures I chose for today’s post were taken on a one-day boat trip. We rode a bus to the other side of the island and on the way to the harbor we stopped to visit one of Crete’s oldest Christian Churches. I tried to remember its name, but couldn’t and google is not being friendly today either. I remember the guide saying that it was built secretly because at that time Christian practices were banned and people were punished if caught, sometimes even murdered.

One of the sights that took my breath away. If you look closely, you can see the sea above the road, between the cliffs. Another thing I loved about Crete was its cliffs, that they’re usually not bare, they have small bushes and trees growing on them. Such a pittoresque view.

Thank you for reading! If any of you know, by any chance, the name of the Basilica, do tell! Have a nice day!

Foxy Lady

DSC_1404 copy
Surprise! I went all red because… I don’t know? Do we really need a reason to dye our hair? We just got bored of it, as simple and sadly, superficial as that. On top of that more and more people are getting dip dyed hair and it lost most of its appeal for me when it became common. Maybe I’ll go back to it when it stops being a trend, but until then, Jimi’s Foxy Lady will be my theme song. Or Dexter running around screaming MY HAIR IS ON FIRE, I can’t decide, really.

The day we took this photos was so cold I could barely stand still for a shot, and taking off my coat was the worst and hardest to make decision of my life.

One thing that I hate about Christmas is that it’s always below my expectations. I’m always looking forward to it for weeks, slowly building up excitement and giving in to the holiday spirit, yet when the day finally arrives I end up eating like a pig and witnessing family drama. Every year. Well, at least the food is delicious (and always too much). How have you spent these holy days? Thank you for reading! <3

A view worth a thousand of your fragile words

When we renovated the house, the project was so big we had to move in an apartment for around four months. It’s  been a little weird in the beginning since I’ve been living in a house for as long as I can remember. My room was half as it used to be, the storage space waaay smaller than what I’ve been used to, having only one bathroom, super small kitchen… But all those became irrelevant once you looked on the window. The view was breathtaking, something you just can’t describe into words, maybe inarticulate spazzing happy sounds, maybe, but it’s too beautiful for words.

From thunderstorms to raging heat, we’ve had it all in the months we lived there. I tried my best to capture each moment of pure beauty.

I’m posting this later than planned since I caught a terrible cold and my eyes hurt from staring too much at the computer screen. I’m a little better now, hopefully by the end of the week it’ll be completely gone, since this Saturday is a really, really special one :) Our family will welcome a new furry member. How have you been, dear readers?

I still have some beautiful sunsets to share with you guys, so this is only part one of this kind of posts, I hope you enjoyed! Have a nice day! <3

I don’t know what you’re running from

But I think I’m running from it too. It’s been almost two months since I’ve last posted on this blog I used to excitedly draft posts on almost every day. I remember when people were asking me what I had planned for the summer holiday my answer was to focus on blogging, to post every day if possible.

Clearly, that didn’t happen. I’d like to blame it on the over all unexpectedly surprising and eventful summer I’ve had. A lot of things changed in my life and most of the time I was either too sad or too happy to find my inspiration. Another excuse would be that most of my friends were away from the city when I was home, so I didn’t have who to drag with me to take photos of my outfits. The ultimate and the most reasonable excuse I have is that after so many months of dedicating myself virtually, both here and on tumblr, I wanted to have some time for myself and myself only, to live my “real life” fully for once. I wanted to see how that feels, for once. It didn’t really work though, everywhere I went I was thinking about how to blog about it and every time I went to sleep I felt guilty for not blogging in such a long time.

But here I am :) I guess it will take me a little while to getting used to doing it regularly, but I’ll do my best. I have a ton to share with you from my summer, I hope you’re looking forward to it as much as I am. I missed you.

A feast for the Gods

I forgot completely about the pictures I took last month, when we celebrated my beloved mother’s birthday. It was on the 20th of April (born on the same day with Hitler, lol :D ) and we ate at the Japanese restaurant. My best friend monstrupufos was with us because even mom loves her~ We had some lovely food and lovely time on a special day.

My little brother, battling with the dessert.

And my beautiful mother <3 Happy birthday once again. If you ever read this, I love you. Nono and the little bug also.
