Overture

This is what I wore in the evening when me and mom went to the Opera to see the Swan Lake on ice. With a Zara dress and Jeffrey Campbell boots I ended up being overdressed, as usual, because sadly people think it’s ok to wear jeans at the Opera. I normally don’t give a damn whether you’re wearing a suit or a jumpsuit at school or at a party, but honestly some occasions really ask for a little more effort. I’m not saying you should climb on stilettos if it isn’t your style, but I honestly doubt there’s no fancy dress in your closet. At least slightly. More elegant than jeans nonetheless.

It was also the first time I took photos of my outfit in my room. The lightning is rather poor, I’ll take care of that. But there’s a much more relaxed atmosphere and I felt comfortable doing a lot of things I’m not comfortable doing in front of the camera outdoors, where people are watching and sometimes even feel obliged to say their not so polite and intellectual opinions although nobody asked. I’m still pretty uncomfortable with taking photos in public places. I hate it when people stare.

  1. As I worte on tumblr: I love this outfit. The dress is such a wonderful piece and the color suits you so damn well! And I LOVE your sSpiked Litas. That outfit and your make up is perfect!
And I’m with your opinion – people should dress a little bit classy when visiting opera.

  2. well, maybe it’s nice to dress in a special outfit for the opera, but then again, I think the act that you go there and feel comfortable with what you wear and you focus on the actors’ act rather than how you relate to other people is more important. it’s a matter of choices, of course, but it’s also nice that people still go to the opera, no matter how they dress. :)

    • I agree with the fact that it’s nice to know people still go to the opera, but I still stand by my opinion. The opera is a formal place, it needs a formal attire. Just like you can’t go wearing 12 inch stilettos at school. Or at least you shouldn’t.

      • well, we got opinions and opinions and so on. i don’t mind yours or the other people who still support this tradition of dressing really special for the opera. it’s just that from my point of view i would choose content rather than form, of course, maybe the nicest would be to have a combination of both. cheers!

  3. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!

  4. Hi! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My weblog looks weird when browsing from my iphone 4. I’m
trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to fix this problem.

If you have any recommendations, please share.
    With thanks!
