Liz Lisa S/S 2012 – My picks

This time last year I used to be crazy about Liz Lisa. Even though my style has changed a lot, I still fancy their airy, princess-ish designs, simply for their cheerfulness! It’s as if by wearing them you could make spring come faster~

Mint! I love that colour, it’s one of my favourites and I think it goes perfectly with spring themed clothes, so I’m really happy to see it on a few of Liz Lisa’s designs~

I love the dress because it’s a little bit different than their usual designs. Most dresses are either knee length or maxi dresses but this one is a compromise between the two.  What I don’t like, though, is the overlay with the knit. I’ve noticed it a lot in this collection, but personally I think it makes the looks a bit too cluttered.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE those shoes! And the skirt (I hope that is not a dress) but again, I don’t fancy the knit/lace association…

Something that I like over-all about this collection is that is isn’t as redundant as their older ones. We’d always see floral prints, browns and pinks, but this time both the designs and patterns are more varied and even if they’re not pink nor full of roses, they’re still very feminine and cute.

Which are your picks? Do you like the new collection? Thank you for reading!

Style Evolution Post 2009-2012

So, as you can see, A LOT has changed regarding my style in only three years. I think it was due to my trips to Japan: seeing women there always dressed neatly, hair and makeup done motivated me to try and become more feminine. A little disclaimer, I am a bit embarassed of my old self, but ah well, I’m happy I’ve changed and in three years I’ll be laughing again at how I look today. So let the fun begin!

I think this is as old as 2008. As you can see I was kind of ~emo~ and I generally looked like a sad swamp monster :D I used to hate having pictures of myself taken so there isn’t much evidence, but the pictures my uncle secretly took of me in Japan.

Looking like a plum? Check!

I love it how I put that belt right under my belly to accentuate it gosh, what was I thinking?!

Skirt over pants was unfortunately something pretty often seen on me :(

Here comes 2010! this is not even THAT bad, now that I look at it. It’s a bit more body-type suitable and over-all looks a bit more neat~

Who let me out of the house looking like that ;~; I still like the dress, but the fishnets AND knee high socks are definitely too much. And my weight is way too much for that dress too.

I really had no clue how to dress according to my body type. I also cared more about makeup, but I still didn’t know what works on my face (not that I know now)

This is right when I came back from Japan, in France (still 2010), and it’s kind of a very nice photo for that era when I hated taking photos. Also, I became interested in gyaru.

I my try-hard gyaru era I focused most on the makeup. As I look back, I realize the biggest mistake that I made was that I was trying too hard to fit in the ideal the western ~gaijin gyaru~ as they call themselves, created. Therefore instead of trying to adapt styles from gal suitable for my features I was trying too hard to emulate what that bunch of hateful girls (I’m really sorry, there are nice ones too, but most of them…) were preaching is right. So this no-personality Nnena was showing, who was trying too hard to respect the inexistent rules appeared. But I realized I can’t follow rules, so I quit trying to and I’m happy I did.

Horrible!

I wouldn’t have the courage to wear that again.

This is 2011, the year in which my style finally evolved to better (I hope)

But I still didn’t dress for my body type~

Aaaand the makeup didn’t fit me either~

But then I quit trying to be gyaru and just did my own thing, my style became more simple and mature (at times)

Makeup got better too, more suitable for my face, but it still needs improvements.

Aaaaaand, TA-DAH! I’m no longer a froggie! And I didn’t need a prince to kiss me to transform, all I needed was a little determination and a lot of inspiration :)

Rome by night, part I

I’m going through one of those phases when nothing seems right nor good enough: clothes, food, photos, my words seem to be too jumbled and generally not suitable for a blog post. It might be one of the side effects of the cold that I have. So I’m going to cheat a little and instead of posting the frizzy hair tutorial which I planned I will post photos from Rome again :) I hope you’ll enjoy nevertheless~ImageImageImageImageImage

I left my heart in Tokyo

My dream came true in 2009 when I was lucky enough to tag along with my uncle’s family to Japan. Going through these old pictures reminded me how in love I am with their weird culture and society and how much I miss it.

In 2009 we have visited southern Japan and during my second trip in 2010 we’ve visited the northern part, up to Hokkaido. Since so many months passed and only recently I managed to get all our pictures back it will be a bit hard for me to remember all the details, especially since we’ve been to 10~15 cities during each trip.

These pictures are from 2010, taken from the Tokyo Tower. Viewed from up high, Tokyo reminds me of a lego built playground. A masterpiece in lego, that is.

In this picture you can see the Zozo-Ji, a buddhist temple. I think this is one of the things that I love most about Japan, how culture and folklore is still present and blended in with the modern, glass skyscrapers.

Just look at this beautiful city. It’s breathtaking. How can you not fall in love with it?

I hope you enjoyed :) Take care!

Rome by Day part II

Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened. A wonderful quote by Dr Seuss which fits my feelings best now. I really miss Rome and spending time carefree with my mother. Part one is Here.

Another batch of pictures, Rome through my eyes. I’ve been looking up quite alot those days, huh? :) I hope you liked it! Next post will be about Japan, stay tuned! Take care, lovely readers~

Glimpses of Japan: Teaser Post!

Fist of all, I would like to apologize for the lack of recent updates. I had a really difficult week, health wise, so I spent most of my time sleeping and resting to get better as soon as possible :)

Now, now, to explain this sudden post. I decided to share with you my memories from my trips to Japan. I’ve been to Japan two times, once in April 2009 and the second time in August 2010. I have a lot of pictures (not as nice as I wish they were, though) and a lot of still vivid memories that I’d love to write down so I can remember them forever.

I guess we could call this a teaser post :)

A few pictures, to make the teaser worth-while :) I hope you’re looking forward to it as much as I do! Take care <3

Where all your wishes come true

Also known as Fontana Di Trevi, where a coin grants your wish :)

At least that’s what I thought. The real legend, if we can call a legend real, is that if you throw a coin with your back at the fountain, over the shoulder you will return to Rome. It is said that there are roughly 3500 euros thrown into the fountain everyday. I’m really curious who gathers them all (probably the state, but I like imagining that this little dwarf come out at night and picks up all the money :D )

It’s the most beautiful fountain I’ve ever seen. Especially if you visit it at sunset, the sight is breathtakingly beautiful. I don’t think my photos picture the sights well enough, but for the ones who haven’t seen it with their own eyes, it gives an idea about it’s astonishing peculiarity.

We bought ice cream (the only one that I ate in Italy, damn you diet) from a gellateria close Trevi.

I had chocolate and mint and it was delicious.

Obviously since it was a huge exception and a rule-breaker we had to take dozens of pictures to immortalize the moment and feel guilty afterwards~

Have you ever seen the fountain yourself? Did you like it as much as I did? :) Hope you enjoyed and take care, dear readers!

Suitable makeup for both day AND evening in 10 minutes

This is the way I usually do my makeup because as the title says, it’s perfect both during daytime and as evening makeup. It’s really quick too, it only takes ten minutes to apply after you’ve decided what/how to use. Let’s begin! :)

Bare face, I’ve used facial scrub and moisturizer before.

I’m using Urban Decay’s Complexion Primer Potion, MUFE HD Foundation applied with Mac’s Duo Fibre brush.

Not-so-bare face now :) You can see that my face looks a lot more even and the spots are less obvious. I love this foundation’s coverage and texture and the brush leaves a really neat finish.

Mac Concealer, Too Faced Brow Envy palette, Diamond Blush and Body Shop’s blush brush.

I look more alive now, haha. Used the concealer under my eyes and to cover imperfections and on the nose. Moisturized my lips too with a Nivea lip balm.

Too Faced palette which I reviewed here. For this look I’m using Soulmates (top left corner), Ever After (bottom right corner) , Cut the Cake (middle row, the second one) and Un-Veil (top right corner).

I applied Soulmates on the whole lid, pushed it up to the brow bone, then added Ever After in the crease, blended it out. After I added a bit on Un-Veil over Ever After right in the crease to create a bigger impact and I didn’t blend it much because I wanted it only there, in the crease. Finally added Cut the cake in the middle of the eyelid to make Soulmates and Unveil blend in better. Hope that makes sense, haha :D

Another angle so you can see what it looks like.

Estee Lauder loose powder, Sephora liquid eyeliner and Benefit mascara.

The photo is a bit blurry, I apologize for that. When I apply my eyeliner, I make a really slim line in the inner corner, thicken it as I line towards the outer corner, then sharpen the edge to make it look slightly cat-eyed.

Everybody has a different eye-shape, so I don’t advise you to do it like I do. Play around with shapes, edges and thickness until you find the one you like most :)

Bangs down, finished look :)

And a sneak peak into my next post~ Added the picture also to show you what lipstick I used. It’s a friends’, so I can’t tell the brand and colour, all I know is that it’s red, haha :)

Did you find it useful? What’s your ideal look? Hope you enjoyed reading. Take care~
